Margaux Benn

Margaux Benn est grand reporter au service international du Figaro et cofondatrice du podcast On Spec. Elle a couvert l’Afghanistan pendant près de quatre ans en tant que journaliste indépendante pour des chaînes télévisées, journaux, magazines et radios francophones et anglophones : d’abord en tant que correspondante basée à Kaboul, puis en tant que visiteuse régulière, réalisant des documentaires et reportages long-format. De 2014 à 2018, elle a été journaliste pour l’Agence France-Presse en France, en République centrafricaine puis au bureau Moyen-Orient et Afrique du Nord à Chypre. Avant cela, elle a été journaliste indépendante au Soudan et chercheuse pour l’International Crisis Group au Soudan et au Kenya. Elle est lauréate du prix Marco Luchetta, et du prix Bayeux des correspondants de guerre. Margaux est diplômée de l’université Saint-Andrews (Ecosse), et de l’école de journalisme de Sciences-Po (Paris).  

Margaux Benn is a senior reporter for the international service of Le Figaro and co-founder of the podcast On Spec. She has covered Afghanistan for nearly four years as a freelance journalist for French and English-language TV channels, newspapers, magazines and radio stations: first as a correspondent based in Kabul, then as a regular visitor, making documentaries and long-form reports. From 2014 to 2018, she was a journalist for Agence France-Presse in France, Central African Republic and then the Middle East and North Africa desk in Cyprus. Before that, she was a freelance journalist in Sudan and a researcher for the International Crisis Group in Sudan and Kenya. She is a recipient of the Marco Luchetta award, and the Bayeux prize for war correspondents. Margaux is a graduate of St. Andrews University (Scotland), and the Sciences-Po School of Journalism (Paris).  

Manon Berriche

Diplômée de la spécialité « Digital, New Technology and Public Policy »  de l’École d’Affaires Publiques de Sciences Po ainsi que du Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires, Manon Berriche réalise actuellement une thèse au médialab de Sciences Po sous la direction de Dominique Cardon et de Sophie Pène. Ses recherches portent sur la réception des fake news et s’attachent à réinscrire la relation à l’information d’actualité dans une compréhension plus fine des contextes de la vie sociale dans lesquels elle se déploie en articulant à la fois des méthodes de sociologie numérique et d’enquêtes ethnographiques. Elle enseigne par ailleurs les cours « Culture Numérique » et « Sciences et Sociétés » au Collège Universitaire de Sciences Po.

A graduate of the « Digital, New Technology and Public Policy » specialty of the Sciences Po School of Public Affairs as well as of the Center for Research Interdisciplinarity, Manon Berriche is a PhD student at Sciences Po médialab, working under the supervision of Dominique Cardon and Sophie Pène. Her research focuses on the reception of fake news  by articulating both methods of digital sociology and ethnographic surveys. She also teaches « Digital Culture » and « Sciences and Societies » courses at the University College of Sciences Po.

Patricia Clarembaux

Patricia Clarembaux est grande reporter multimédia vénézuélienne actuellement basée à Houston. En tant que journaliste, elle s’est toujours intéressée aux histoires humaines et à la façon dont elles contribuent à la réalité des autres. C’est pourquoi elle a écrit le livre A ese infierno no vuelvo (Je ne retourne pas dans cet enfer) sur les prisons du Venezuela, où elle raconte pour la première fois comment y vivent les détenus et comment leurs familles font face aux inégalités d’une société brisée et à l’impunité d’un système judiciaire faible. L’immigration et la politique aux États-Unis et en Amérique latine sont deux des sujets qui l’intéressent particulièrement, et qu’elle traite par le biais de supports visuels pour des programmes interactifs, des projets spéciaux et les réseaux sociaux. Avant de venir aux États-Unis, elle a travaillé pour l’AFP en tant que correspondante, pour le PNUD (Programme des Nations unies pour le développement) en tant que conseillère communication et pour des journaux vénézuéliens tels que El Mundo Economía y Negocios et Tal Cual. Chez Univision, le travail de Patricia Clarembaux a été récompensé par deux prix Edward R. Murrow, un Emmy Award, le RFK Rights Journalism Award, le Ortega y Gasset Award, le ONA Award, le POY Latam Award et un Emmy régional, entre autres. Elle a reçu une bourse du Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting et de l’International Women’s Media Foundation. Elle se passionne pour les récits multiplateformes, les migrations, la violence et les traumatismes.

Patricia Clarembaux is a Venezuelan multimedia senior reporter currently based in Houston. As a journalist she has always been interested in human stories and how they contribute to other people’s reality. That’s why she wrote the book A ese infierno no vuelvo (I won’t return to that hell) related to prisons in Venezuela, where she tells by the first time how do prisoners live in Venezuelan jails and how their families face the inequalities of a broken society and the impunity of a weak justice system. Immigration and Politics in the U.S and Latin America are two of the topics she’s more interested in, covering them through visuals for interactives, special projects and social media. Before she came to the U.S she used to work at AFP as a correspondent; at UNDP as a Communication Associate; and at Venezuelan newspapers such as El Mundo Economía y Negocios and Tal Cual. With Univision, Clarembaux’s work has been recognized by two Edward R. Murrow awards, one national Emmy Award, RFK Rights Journalism award, Ortega y Gasset award, ONA award, POY Latam award, regional Emmy among others. She’s a grantee of The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and the International Women’s Media Foundation. She is passionate about multi-platform storytelling, migration, violence and trauma.

Adriana Gallardo

Adriana Gallardo a rejoint ProPublica en 2016. Depuis lors, elle a collaboré à la rédaction de plusieurs séries d’enquête relatives à la santé des femmes, l’immigration ou encore la violence sexuelle. Ses reportages engagés lui ont rapporté plusieurs prix : l’une de ses séries a fait partie des finalistes du prix Pulitzer 2018 pour les reportages explicatifs (Lost Mothers) et elle a reçu en 2020 le prix Pulitzer pour le service public (Lawless). En 2021, son projet de reportage engagé « Unheard », conçu à partir de de la série d’enquêtes « Lawless » qu’elle a menées en Alaska, a reçu le prix Dart pour l’excellence dans la couverture des traumatismes, le prix Ancil Payne pour l’éthique dans le journalisme, le prix de l’éthique dans le journalisme de la Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), le Prix du rassemblement dans la catégorie Journalisme engagé par l’Online News Association (ONA) et a été première lauréate dans la catégorie du journalisme engagé de l’American Society of Magazine Editors (Ellies). Elle habite à Brooklyn (NY) et est professeure adjointe à la Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism à l’Université de la ville de New York (CUNY).

Gallardo joined ProPublica in 2016. Since then, she’s collaborated across the newsroom on investigative series covering women’s health, immigration, and sexual violence. Her community-sourced reporting has contributed to several awards including a 2018 Pulitzer Prize finalist series for explanatory reporting (Lost Mothers) and the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for public service (Lawless). In 2021, « Unheard, » an engagement reporting project from Alaska’s “Lawless” investigative series, was awarded The Dart Award for Excellence in Coverage of Trauma, The Ancil Payne Award for Ethics in Journalism, The Ethics in Journalism Award from the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), the Gather Award in Engaged Journalism from The Online News Association (ONA) and was the inaugural winner in the community journalism category by The American Society of Magazine Editors (Ellies). She is based in Brooklyn, NY and is an adjunct professor at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York (CUNY)

Masha Gessen

Masha Gessen est une personne journaliste américano-russe, autrice, traductrice et militante. Gessen fait partie de la rédaction du The New Yorker et a écrit onze livres, dont “Surviving Autocracy” et “The Future Is History: How Totalitarianism Reclaimed Russia”, qui a gagné le National Book Award en 2017. Gessen a écrit sur la Russie, l’autocratie, les droits LGBT, Vladimir Putin et Donald Trump pour la New York Review of Books et le New York Times. Gessen a aussi travaillé en tant que journaliste scientifique et a écrit sur le SIDA, la génétique et les mathématiques. Gessen est récipiendaire de beaucoup de distinctions et de bourses, dont la  Distinguished Writer in Residence à l’université Bard, la bourse Guggenheim, la bourse Andrew Carnegie, la bourse Nieman, le prix Hitchens et la Overseas Press Club Award. Après plus de vingt ans au poste de journaliste et éditeur à Moscou, Gessen vit à New York depuis 2013.

After more than twenty years as a journalist and editor in Moscow, Gessen has been living in New York since 2013.

Cornelius Hirsch

Cornelius Hirsch a rejoint POLITICO Europe en tant qu’analyste des renseignements en mai 2019. Auparavant, il a cofondé pollofpolls.eu, un site web de données de sondages acquis et intégré au site web de POLITICO. Poll of Polls propose une collection de sondages professionnels pour toutes les élections nationales à venir en Europe. En 2020, il a terminé son doctorat en sciences économiques et sociales à l’université d’économie et de commerce de Vienne (WU Wien) avec une thèse sur le commerce international, la mondialisation et son interrelation avec les zones rurales. Cornelius Hirsch est titulaire d’une maîtrise en économie agricole de l’université Humboldt de Berlin et d’une licence en économie de l’université libre de Berlin.

Cornelius Hirsch joined POLITICO Europe as Intelligence Analyst in May 2019. Previously, he co-founded pollofpolls.eu, a polling data website acquired and integrated into POLITICO’s website. Poll of Polls offers professional polling aggregations for all upcoming national elections in Europe. In 2020, he completed his Ph.D. studies in economics and social sciences at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien) focusing on international trade, globalization and its interrelation with rural areas. Cornelius Hirsch holds an M.Sc. in agricultural economics from Humboldt-University Berlin and a B.Sc. in economics from the Free University Berlin.

Mahan Khomamipour

Né en 1992 à Téhéran, en Iran, Mahan Khomamipour est un cinéaste indépendant, directeur de la photographie et performeur depuis déjà 10 ans. Il a commencé sa carrière en 2011 en réalisant On underground, un semi-documentaire sur le breakdance en Iran. De 2011 à 2018, il a poursuivi sa carrière en tant que réalisateur de documentaires et de films expérimentaux et a réalisé plusieurs documentaires et vidéos d’art/musiques sur la génération des jeunes Iraniens et leur style de vie clandestin. Il s’intéresse également à l’art environnemental comme le montre ses projets Heaven’s Gate et A pair of City. En 2017, il a réalisé son premier documentaire international Watching the other sur la guerre en Syrie et il a continué en réalisant Simulation of Mr. Yellow en 2018.

Born 1992 in Tehran, IRAN, Mahan Khomamipour is a freelance filmmaker, Director of photography, and performer with 10 years’ experience. He started his career on 2011 by Directing On underground a semi length documentary about breakdance in IRAN from 2011 till 2018, he continued his career as documentary & experimental filmmaker and made Several Documentary and Video Art / Music about Iranian youth generation and their underground Lifestyle. He shows his interest in environmental art by designing Heaven’s Gate and A pair of City. On 2017 he made his first international Documentary Watching the other about war in Syria and he continued on by directing Simulation of Mr. Yellow 2018.

Juanita Leon

Juanita Leon est la fondatrice et directrice de La Silla Vacia, un site d’information de premier plan sur la politique en Colombie. Elle est titulaire d’un master en journalisme de l’université Columbia de New York et est titulaire d’une bourse Nieman de Harvard. Emilienne Malfatto

Emilienne Malfatto est photographe, journaliste et écrivaine. Elle a étudié en France et en Colombie et travaillé à l’AFP en France et au Moyen-Orient. Elle est freelance depuis 2015 et travaille notamment en Irak et en Amérique Latine. Elle collabore régulièrement avec The Washington Post et d’autres médias. Son travail photographique a été exposé internationalement et a reçu des distinctions comme le Grand Prix IAFOR de la photographie documentaire 2019. Son premier roman, Que sur toi se lamente le Tigre, a remporté le Prix Goncourt du premier roman 2021. Son ouvrage de non-fiction, Les serpents viendront pour toi, a reçu le prix Albert Londres du livre 2021.

Emilienne Malfatto is a photographer, journalist and writer. She studied in France and Colombia and worked for AFP in France and the Middle East. She has been freelancing since 2015 and works in Iraq and Latin America, among other places. She regularly collaborates with The Washington Post and other media outlets. Her photographic work has been exhibited internationally and has received awards such as the 2019 IAFOR Grand Prize for Documentary Photography. Her first novel, Que sur toi se lamente le Tigre, won the Prix Goncourt for First Novel 2021. His non-fiction work, Les serpents viendront pour toi, won the Albert Londres Book Prize 2021.

Annabelle Perrin

Annabelle Perrin est cofondatrice et rédactrice en chef de La Disparition, un média épistolaire et politique qui chronique les disparitions en cours dans notre monde. Elle a travaillé pour Le d’Oc, un média d’investigation montpelliérain ainsi que pour La Croix et Socialter.

Annabelle Perrin is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of La Disparition, an epistolary and political medium that chronicles the ongoing disappearances in our world. She has worked for Le d’Oc, an investigative media in Montpellier (south of France), as well as for La Croix and Socialter.

Laurent Richard

Laurent Richard est journaliste, producteur de documentaires et directeur du consortium Forbidden Stories. Depuis plus de 20 ans, Laurent richard mène des investigations internationales et des grands reportages pour la télévision. Dès l’âge de 25 ans, il part dans la vallée du Cachemire filmer le conflit opposant l’Inde et le Pakistan, mais aussi en Palestine alors qu’éclate la deuxième Intifada. Passionné par le fond mais aussi par les formes de narration, il cofonde en 2011 le magazine d’investigation Cash Investigation diffusé sur France 2. En 2015, Laurent obtient le prix de la meilleure investigation au FIGRA pour son documentaire Mon président est en voyage d’affaires. En 2016, il est sélectionné par l’Université du Michigan où il obtient un fellowship d’une année au cours duquel il développe l’idée et le concept d’un réseau mondial de journalistes dont la mission est de poursuivre les enquêtes des reporters assassinés, emprisonnés ou menacés.  Le 2 novembre 2017, le consortium Forbidden Stories voit le jour lors d’une conférence de lancement à Washington DC.

Laurent Richard is a journalist, documentary producer and director of the Forbidden Stories consortium. For more than 20 years Laurent Richard has been conducting international investigations and major stories for television. At the age of 25, he left for the Kashmir valley to film the conflict between India and Pakistan, and for Palestine when the second Intifada broke out. Fascinated by the content but also by the forms of narration, he co-founded in 2011 the investigative magazine « Cash Investigation » broadcast on France 2. In 2015, Laurent won the best investigation award at FIGRA for his documentary My President is on a business trip. In 2016, he was selected by the University of Michigan where he obtained a one-year fellowship during which he developed the idea and concept of a global network of journalists whose mission is to pursue the investigations of reporters who have been murdered, imprisoned or threatened.  On November2, 2017, the Forbidden Stories consortium was born at a launch conference in Washington DC.

Bruce Shapiro

Bruce Shapiro est directeur exécutif du “Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma”, un projet de l’école supérieure de journalisme de l’université Columbia qui encourage les reportages innovants sur la violence, les conflits et les tragédies humaines dans le monde entier. Reporter primé dans les domaines des droits de l’homme, de la justice pénale et de la politique, Bruce Shapiro est collaborateur à The Nation et correspondant aux États-Unis pour l’émission Late Night Live sur la radio australienne ABC Radio National. Il est également professeur associé et conseiller principal pour les affaires académiques à Columbia, où il enseigne l’éthique du journalisme. Il a notamment publié Shaking the Foundations : 200 Years of Investigative Journalism in America et Legal Lynching : The Death Penalty and America’s Future. M. Shapiro a reçu le prix “Public Advocacy Award” de l’”International Society for Traumatic Stress” pour ses « contributions exceptionnelles et fondamentales à la compréhension sociale du traumatisme ». Il est membre fondateur du conseil d’administration du Global Investigative Journalism Network.

Shapiro is recipient of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Public Advocacy Award for « outstanding and fundamental contributions to the social understanding of trauma. » He is a founding board member of the Global Investigative Journalism Network.

Benjamin Tainturier

Benjamin Tainturier a étudié la sociologie quantitative et la démographie à l’École Normale Supérieure de Cachan ainsi que l’économie des médias et du numérique à l’ESSEC. Aujourd’hui doctorant au médialab de SciencesPo, travaillant sous la direction de Dominique Cardon et de Caterina Froio, il s’intéresse à la façon dont l’extrême droite parvient à configurer le champ médiatique français. Benjamin Tainturier collabore aussi ponctuellement avec divers médias dont AOC, France Culture ou le journal de la littérature et des idées « En attendant Nadeau ».

Benjamin Tainturier studied quantitative sociology and demography at the École Normale Supérieure in Cachan as well as media and digital economics at ESSEC. As a PhD student at SciencesPo’s medialab, working under the supervision of Dominique Cardon and Caterina Froio, he is analyzing the way the far-right manages to configure the French media field. Benjamin Tainturier also collaborates occasionally with various media including Liberation, France Culture and, « En attendant Nadeau ».

Farshad Usyan

Farshad Usyan, 28 ans, est originaire de la ville de Mazar-i-Sharif, dans le nord de l’Afghanistan, et a mené ses études de médecine de cette ville. Il a commencé à travailler en tant que photojournaliste et reporter indépendant dans la région nord de l’Afghanistan en mars 2013. Son travail est axé sur le reportage social, les sujets liés à la vie quotidienne et les documentaires. Il a voyagé dans des pays principalement asiatiques et son travail a été présenté dans des publications nationales et internationales. Depuis mars 2013, Farshad couvre toutes les régions d’Afghanistan où il a produit des travaux pour la presse mondiale grand public. Intéressé par les projets documentaires, il utilise sa caméra pour raconter des histoires avec un message social. Farshad a également contribué régulièrement à Climate Tracker, une initiative destinée aux futurs reporters sur le changement climatique. Il a remporté plusieurs prix et distinctions nationaux et internationaux en matière de photojournalisme.

Farshad Usyan, 28, hails from the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif and has completed his studies at the medical university there. He started working as a freelance photojournalist and reporter in the Northern region of Afghanistan in March 2013. His work is focused on social reportage, current affairs and documentaries. He has travelled to mainly Asian countries and his work has been featured in domestic and international publications. Since March 2013, Farshad is covering all regions of Afghanistan where he produced work for mainstream worldwide press. With a keen interest in documentary projects, he uses his camera to tell stories with a social message. Farshad has also dedicated himself as a regular contributor to Climate Tracker, another initiative for the next climate change reporters. He has won several national and international photojournalism awards and recognition.
